Columbine, New York, NY, USA

I was alarmed when I saw the line (around 1 pm); the place looked to be more crowded than a beer hall latrine. Happily, the line moved fast and it wasn't unpleasant. The kitchen is bigger than the eating area, which shows that the owners have good values.

In a tough decision between the Jerk Chicken or the Country Ham, I ordered the Jerk Chicken sandwich because I've been eating far too much cured pork lately (I had been eating a half Meacham's ham over the course of the last 3 weeks before deciding it was finally time to throw it out).

A jerk chicken sandwich should be like a dream come true, and this didn't disappoint but had so much potential. Every other bite there was a blast of allspice/habanero, and the red onions were a really good match. The mango relish was a bit too sweet for me; I was really hoping for a bit more vinegar instead. Baguette with mustard was great. In a parallel universe, this would be served warm.

Sandwich was $8, and just narrowly avoided breaking the second commandment. Actually, it was $8.71 with tax but in dealing with the taxman, 'Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s'...

  1. Dang, that was fast! You're serious about them sandwiches! (P.S. I don't know why Google is being so formal and calling me Jacqueline...)
