Carl's Steaks, New York, NY, USA

Carl's has my vote for the best cheesesteak outside of Philly. The roll is soft and has resistance to the tooth. The steak is chopped a bit and combines with the cheese and onions for a truly 'authentic replica.'

Commandment #1 has never been broken here with no Italian sausage in sight/on site.

I prefer take-out from Carl's as it's hot in there and also feels like everything is coated with a thin layer of oil, including yourself on the way out.
